(Photos by Wes Allison) – So it’s all done. Yep, the 2017 NHRA drag racing season for sportsman and professional racers is locked up and over with. Kind of stinks but at the same time, everyone needs 10 minutes to catch their breath, fix their stuff, and reload the muskets for 2018, right? We’re back with more sportsman photos today which were captured at Pomona during qualifying and early elimination rounds. You’ll see cars in stock, super stock, and even the index classes in here.
While the vast majority of NHRA drag racing fans attend the races to see the big nitro burning beasts, there are still thousands of people every weekend that come in to watch cars that they can identify with compete. Stock and super stock are two of the best categories in the sport and we’ll argue that until the day they shovel dirt over us. From wheel stands to the fact that there’s “correct” power under the hood, they strike right to the core of what it means to be a hot rodder.
We’ll be back with more tomorrow. Today? Check these photos out –
