We’ve seen a lot of cool welding tables, and have owned a few of them ourselves, but man they can be a pain to build, manage, and keep. It sounds funny to say you have to “manage” a welding table, but if they are huge then you do. And they should be bare steel, at least on top, so you have to maintain them as well so they don’t get all yuckified with rust and stuff. I’ve built welding and fab tables from 1/2 inch plate steel, 1/8 inch plate steel, slats, and more, and some of them have been fun projects. Others have been fun right up until you got it all tacked together and then it becomes this monotonous and un-fun most of the time.
