If you haven’t heard, our bearded leader Chad is in the process of making the move from California to Texas and as such, will be in the area of the country where the pickup truck isn’t just a work vehicle or a status symbol as much as it’s a way of life. If you have a truck in Texas, you are good, and Chad certainly has it good with 1987 Chevrolet R-30 3+3, but looking at the truck you get the feeling that the Chevy is a bit…plain. Considering it’s early on, and that it’s a Chad-owned vehicle, that won’t last long, but when I found this 1988 single-cab V30 dually, I had to share…if nothing else, this should help Chad blend in with the locals when the Crew Cab Dually is ready to come out and play!
Texans LOVE their trucks to be big, brash and to stand out from the crowd. You don’t get much brasher than sidepipes barking from the engine bay. Even though it’s just a 350, you’ll have everybody’s attention…if they haven’t already noticed the pushbar with the lights up front, or the meaty tires, or the brightness of the LED lights at night. Or just the fact that it is a very clean square-body GM truck that has been modified just a bit, but kept overall looking highly presentable and easily daily-driver worthy.
Just watch yourself on the rear tow hook. That looks like an outright kneecapper if we’ve ever seen one!
Do you really want to drive something that will have every female you pass by raising her thumb and index finger an insultingly close distance apart?
I like the trailer hitch “hook”.
