Get Them Out Of The Junkyard! This Dodge Stepside Drove Out Of The Spot It Sat In For Thirteen Years!

Something funny that I’ve noticed in the many groups, forums and other venues I tend to frequent: when it comes to the subject of junkyard rescues, it’s amazing just how little actually sent the vehicle in question to the yard. I know of an Oldsmobile Toronado that nearly met the crusher over bad suspension bushings, nothing more. Pictures of the car show a nice used ride, and with a total cost of a couple hundred dollars (including the vehicle itself) someone has a new pride and joy. Other vehicles take a little more than just checking fluids, spark and hitting the key, but sometimes it’s worth the effort.

This 1972 Dodge D100 has been camped out in the same grassy spot for thirteen years. In terms of sitting, thirteen years is enough to worry about a lot of problems. Is the engine locked up? Did anything manage to fall down the carb? Is there any wiring left, or did rodents gnaw it all away? And, knowing that this truck is in the southeast somewhere, will the frame turn to dust the second anyone tries to even move it? Well, you know that there has to be some kind of good ending, otherwise we wouldn’t be running this video. Dylan McCool scored this stepside and wanted to see if he could drive it out of the yard under it’s own power. Will it happen after the Dodge has spent the last few years sinking into the soft earth?
