Money No Object: Stacey David’s “Street Sweeper” 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Is Up For Grabs!

Money No Object: Stacey David’s “Street Sweeper” 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Is Up For Grabs!

It’s taken me more than a couple of minutes to dislodge my heart from my throat on this find. Between knowing the guy well enough and seeing the car in person through several stages of build, my jaw is on the floor that it’s even on eBay, but here we are: The “Street Sweeper”, a super-clean 1973 Plymouth Satellite Sebring, is up for grabs. Be still my heart…and yes, that’s a crack running down the left ventricle. The Sebring has been one of Stacey David’s latest builds, with the premise being a a visual snoozefest but an absolute psycho under the hood. Originally a nice, well-kept one-owner 318 car, the plan was to cram 528ci of Hemi power under the hood, dress it down to hide in plain sight, and keep the overall vibe that of a nice sunny-day driver. He didn’t just want to run drag racing with it, though…he wanted to put this vanilla-looking Plymouth out on autocross courses!

Well, the bad news is that the Ray Barton-sourced Hemi is not going to go with the Satellite and there is no transmission, either. The good news is that the air conditioning system is intact, a MagnumForce Transformer front crossmember and suspension kit does come with the car, and that includes Wilwood disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and Viking coilovers. There’s also a MagnumForce 4-link rear out back holding up a 9-inch Ford unit with 31-spline axles, and a Wilwood brake kit that needs to be installed. There’s a Griffin radiator and shroud with twin electric fans, the stock flat hood and a 1973 Roadrunner “power bulge” hood that comes with the deal. And yes, those bitchin’ Minilite-style wheels are included.

It’s been a minute since we’ve checked in with Stacey…maybe we ought to poke our nose in and see what he’s been up to. Last we knew he had a 1970s Camaro and was building a “Fall Guy” style squarebody truck, but that’s been a while now. If you’ve got the powertrain ready, we can’t think of a better body to stick it into. A built 400 and a 727 with a GearVendors unit would be the icing on this cake. Try to imagine the possibilities, and ignore the loud grinding of my teeth over here.
