Drag Racing In Agrentina Is Bad Ass: Watch This Gear Jamming Footage From An Eighth Mile Strip!

Yes, the title actually says it all, Drag Racing in Argentina is bad ass. We often show you videos from the drag racing scene in Brazil, but we have also eluded to the fact that the sport thrives in every country down there in the southern hemisphere. Argentina is no exception. In this video we visit a small eighth mile drag strip and peek in on the action. Leading the charge is an early 1960s Valiant that leaves with the wheels up and its V8 engine roaring as the driver bangs gears down the strip. The other cars shown are clearly Fords and they are based on what seems to be 1960s Falcon sheet metal with updated front ends. Those are not V8 powered but they are crazy fast and they all are gear jammers!

As is the case everywhere on Earth, people drag race what they have access to in terms of cars and engines. There’s a pretty hardcore looking Nova at the end of this video that seems to be the closes thing to what you’d see at a normal American strip (outside of the Valiant that kicks the video off).

The track is small and seems to be pretty short but there is a timing tower, some portable digital scoreboards, and people crowded around to watch. It’s a throwback to the more simple days of the sport here in the USA before the explosion of money and big budgets. We’d kill to take a trip down to that area and see what we could in terms of the sport.

Remember another thing, Argentina is an EXTREME altitude area so these guys are likely racing in DA numbers that make Denver look like Sonoma and they’re killing it. The ballgame is different but awesomely the same in drag racing no matter where we look.

A stripped down track, cool cars, and loads of kids crowded around to see the action. This rules.
