Everything about this video is awesome and exactly what we all need as we’re stuck inside waiting this virus deal out. Why? Well we have good people in the form of the Fat Fender Garage guys. Secondly we have an amazing car in the form of a 1926 Dodge Brothers Touring Car that is 100% original and intact. Thirdly we have the 88-year old man who bought the car for $135.00 when he was 16 years old. Lastly we have the fact that the car last ran in 1957 and has been living a dormant life ever since, following the family through moves and other stuff but never leaving the grasp of its owner.
The wife of the man who owns the car got into contact with Fat Fender and they got it running and rolling again as a surprise for the owner. It is emotional and it is really great. To see him actually get in the car and operate it (at low speed) is fantastic and one can only imagine the emotions he was experiencing remembering being a young man, zipping along at 55mph in this car with the top down.
The car itself is incredible. Yeah it is tattered and worn but the Dodge Brothers Four still chuffs along proudly. That engine is one of the greatest in American history as it was constructed for about a decade with nearly no changes and had the guts to run with larger plants form other companies. In 1927 it was revised little but this 1926 model has one of the best versions of that venerable plant ever made.
This is what cars are all about to us. Watch –
