We’re guessing that the kids who cruised around in the back of this 1967 Buick Sport Wagon didn’t really love it as much as we’re loving it right now. We’re guessing those kids were excited at first about the 10 minutes about the glass panels in the roof and then this thing just became the family transportation. The guy who bought this car was likely pretty proud of it. It got the good wheels, it got the good trim package with the wood grain, it got air conditioning, a tilt wheel, and it is packing a three speed automatic.
This car has a 340ci Buick engine in it and we’re guessing that there’s a 4bbl carb on it. This engine was rated at 260hp. This engine makes the car even cooler because it was basically a one year only piece, used as a kind of stop gap measure. The 340 was a stroked version of the 300ci engine which had been around a couple of years. In 1968 the Buick 350 would come in and last until 1980. The little 340 could be had with a two or four barrel carb in this car and the transmissions were a two speed automatic, a three speed automatic, and a three speed manual.
The factory claimed the car could get to 60 in 9.2 seconds and it could run the drag strip in 16.2 seconds. Numbers that are reasonably sporty for a family station wagon.
A couple of weeks ago I posted a relatively bone stock Chevy II and said that it should be hot rodded. Lots of people jumped my car about that (not complaining!). I have their opinion with this car. Leave it as is, an awesome time capsule of what the great American station wagon was at during the height of its most awesome.
We did not have one of these but cars like this are part of my childhood. Dull as ditch water then, interesting and desirable AF now.
Some psychiatrist can probably tell us why, but save your health care dollars and just call it nostalgia.
That is a sweet ride in nice condition!
Also is a smog pump car… That might need to leave just because but otherwise yes, leave it alone.
The 340 also has a taller deck than the 300 as Buick never adopted slipper skirt pistons till the 3800 era.
Man this brings back memories, I grew up driving a 67 Buick wagon with the 300 in it, it wasn’t a sport though. Loved that car, the power steering was so easy on that car, it took no effort to turn the wheels. Wish we never got did of it.
I believe they were called Vista Cruisers. (Vista due to the roof glass) I think the Sport was a version of Vista Cruiser.
Vista Cruisers were Oldsmobiles.
My dad bought the neighbors 69 Vista Cruiser when he was going to trade it in. The dealership told him since it had 75,000+ miles, it was almost wore out. We put another 100,000 on it. It was a great car, if a little underpowered (350). It ended up being my 1st demo derby car
Typical GRauto Gallery Pricing….27,900.00…

Glasspacks, airbags and some nice clean 18 or 20 inch wheels. Then drop it and cruise.
