If you are a drag racer in the Illinois area that has always wanted to participate in an endurance drag racing event, here’s your chance! After Drag Week 2020 got whacked, people have stepped up with different events to fill the void for those who were wanting to participate. This is the latest information on Drag Weekend 500 which is being put on by Byron Dragway and Rock Falls Raceway. It’s a Friday/Saturday/Sunday deal and the driving element comprises about 500 miles, so you get the best of all worlds here. A cool road trip, three days of drag racing, and you don’t have to take a few weeks of work off to do it.
We also love this idea because we’re guessing a load of racers from the Illinois and Wisconsin area had taken the time off from work to compete at Drag Week already and with their money refunded and time on their hands it seems like a great idea to give them a place to do what they love to do.
Additionally, Rock Falls Raceway has undergone one of the most comprehensive renovations any track has seen in decades around the country. Just to go race at this newly re-made facility sounds like an awesome opportunity to us.

Drag Weekend 500 is the ultimate test of man and machine. Not only do the race cars have to be fast on the dragstrip but they must also be built to last, as they are driven from track-to-track-to-track.
The event begins at Byron Dragway (Byron, IL) on Friday, September 11, travels to Rock Falls Raceway (Eau Claire, WI) on Saturday, September 12, and returns back to Byron Dragway on Sunday, September 13 for a total round trip of over 500 miles!
