(Words and Photos by Scott Liggett) Photos continue! The town of Kearney Nebraska and the Central Nebraska Auto Club (CNAC) have been putting on Cruise Nite for 32 years. The event started out as cruising around town on the Saturday night. It has expanded over the years to encompass events Tuesday through Sunday of the third week of July. With show n shines, an classic car auction, and even a parade to all of the assisted living living homes in town. And, of course cruising on the main highway through town all Saturday night.
People come into town from all over the area, and often stay the whole week. Kearney fills up with hot rods, muscle cars, and classics. Thanks to Covid-19, the original date in July was just not possible. But, the show organizers of the CNAC couldn’t just cancel it all together this year. So, they postponed the event to this past week, mid-October.
Many people thought the show goer numbers would suffer thanks to the later date, Covid still around, kids back in school, etc. And, October in Central Nebraska can get you any kind of weather imaginable from sweltering heat to blizzards. The numbers were down just a little bit from 2019, but the result was still fantastic. The CNAC pulled off another great event, or events.
