(By Tom Lohnes) – The Ford Mustang Mach-E has been a very controversial vehicle. With the Mustang traditionally being a Gas powered 2-door coupe or convertible, the Mach-e, being an electric 4-door crossover, made a lot of people mad. But you can’t deny the Mach-E’s blisteringly quick acceleration figures and surprising value, and the performance gets better with the recently announced Mach-E Performance edition.
Sporting Papaya orange paint, distinct wheels, and new headlights, the Mach-E blends the Mustang’s styling well into the always awkward shape that is a coupe-styled crossover. With the performance edition comes new suspension and tires, as well as a $5,500 price raise on top of the Mach-E GT.
Electric horsepower is hard to estimate, but Ford says it is around 480, which is the same as the new Mustang Mach 1. 0-60 miles per hour, every electric vehicle’s strong suit, comes around at 3.5 seconds, which is only 0.2 seconds off the Tesla Model Y performance, which is considerably more expensive and uglier. The interior is modern, but still noticeably Ford, with a vertical touchscreen which has a volume knob smack dab in the middle of it
You might hate the Mach-E, but there’s no doubt this is a compelling buy for an electric crossover. Prices for the performance edition start at $67,500
Let the hating begin. They will sell and very well.
I have two classic Fords in my garage. But no tree-hugger fake Mustang will ever be joining them.
I wouldn’t hate on the vehicle if Ford hadn’t sold out and used the hallowed Mustang name on this 21st century pile of political correctness.
$35000 too expensive.
