(By Tom Lohnes) – Are you tired of your SRT vehicle getting stolen? Well, Dodge is too, and they’ve come up with a way to stop it.
At the end of 2021, any Dodge Charger, Challenger, or Durango, Jeep SRT and Trackhawk owner, or anyone who has a 2015+ SRT model with at very minimum a 6.4-liter V8, you are entitled for this new security system. If you choose to get this installed or free, you will need a 4-digit passcode to unlock your car’s full potential after you start it. If you don’t, the car simply won’t move off of idle. This generates a whopping 2.8 horsepower and 22 pounds feet of torque and will propel the power-locked hellcat to 60 in a blistering 90 seconds. The 2.8 horsepower generated in the locked form is actually less than the average power on most lawnmowers nowadays, so you can ensure your thief isn’t getting very far with it.
So, will you be getting this installed on your fast Dodge? Personally, I would, because I wouldn’t trust just anyone with at very least 470 horses. I can’t wait for the performance tests of an idling Hellcat to start appearing on YouTube in the next few months.
I have thought about using a two step as an antitheft system before. Set it to about 600 RPM, watch thieves pull their hair out trying to figure out what’s wrong.
Wouldn’t stop the sort of professionals who prefer to just tow the car, but might prevent joyriders and other more casual ones.
Calendar check; Yup, April 1.
This is not a fake story.
They should be set up like this from the factory for new owners. You should have to demonstrate ability to work your way up to 100% power. Screw up and it drops you back down to earn your way up again.
Some boobs tried to carjack a Tesla in Chicago, couldn’t figure out how to make it go. Perhaps the prison library has that information.
Hey, my Yugo’s been kinda sluggish lately. You ‘spose this program got activated there somehow, when I wasn’t looking?
