Wow, just wow. This is awesome. In this latest video from Kibbetech you’ll see their new Billet Aluminum Trophy Truck Spindle being whittled out of a big 125 lb chunk of billet aluminum to end up being less than 20 lbs when finished. This is a whole new approach to the Trophy Truck spindle because the traditional method of manufacturing them has been to use multiple pieces of chromoly steel to fabricate them. Yes they are strong when done that way, but they are heavy, difficult to make, and not as precise as machining one from a solid chunk. These suckers are still complicated to build, have a jillion hours in the design, and will still require a fair amount of work to be finished, but they are still more efficient to make and far nicer when done. These are the ultimate Trophy Truck spindle.
And if you look closely you’ll realize that there is more going on here than in the parts they are replacing. In the video Ryan is trying to keep some of the design changes, specifically those surrounding the upper Uni-Ball mounting system, a secret as they are potentially a game changer and something that sets them apart from anyone else trying to do the same thing.
If you like watching amazing stuff come to life from a block of aluminum, and are mesmerized by chips flying, then watch. This one is cool.
neat part. big minus in all this is market ton price for aluminum was about $1700 a few months ago. now the crooks have it close to $2400 a ton.
that part price will go up a lot.
