It is weird to say but a lot of hardcore racers are not that much into street driven hot rods. They like cars but they like them made of steel tubing and making 3,000hp or more. Stevie Fast has always been one of those guys. Hardcore racer to the bone but never one to have himself a hot street machine. That is all changing now and he is building the rig himself.
Welcome to Project Ronnie. We’re picking it up a few episodes in so you can always jump back to see how this whole thing started but basically, the premise is simple. Ronnie was Stevie’s step dad and when he died he left Stevie his 1973 Chevy long bed truck. It has sat and kind of languished behind the race shop for years and now it is getting the attention that it deserves.
It’s rotted, it’s not running, and if these guys are able to finish off the plan that they are starting, it will be great. The plan is to make it into a fun street rig but also make it capable of 1,000hp on pump gas and upwards of 1,500 on race gas. The plan is also to have it be capable of running events like Drag Week and others. Pretty awesome.
In this episode, the truck gets torn apart and Stevie reveals the build plan for Project Ronnie. You’ll dig it.
None of my business and he’s the champ, but shouldn’t he be working on his race cars and getting the rigs and equipment ready?
Oh, wait, he’s the champ so he’s probably already ready or he wouldn.t be doing the truck now.
