(By Tom Lohnes) – The Toyota GR Corolla really can’t come soon enough. With turbocharged 3-cylinder power, a manual transmission, and AWD in a small and relatively cheap package, this hot hatch is being very eagerly awaited by enthusiasts around the world. It isn’t quite here, but Toyota has put out a new teaser that reveals even more of the new hot hatch.
So far, it seems that Toyota is releasing a new teaser every month for the new ‘Rolla. There were the original two images that showed some well-hidden clues and the actual car covered in camo, then there was a video featuring the GR86, and now there is another video. In the video, someone from Toyota’s GR department is pitching a commercial that involves both current GR cars, the Supra and 86. The corporate representatives don’t exactly love the commercial, but the GR folks keep going, bringing in two Formula Drift Supras and even jumping the 86. Eventually, the commercial ends in a “flying V” formation, but there are only two current GR vehicles. . Then, the people from corporate say that you need three vehicles for that. After that, the camera cuts to the darkened back end of the Corolla, and a racy exhaust note plays in the background. That is how you do marketing, folks.
We still know surprisingly little about the GR Corolla, but a reveal should happen this summer. If they can price this thing right, we have a winner on our hands
