It’s always neat to hear people’s stories of finding parts here and there, working over time to gather everything they need to complete an engine build, a restoration, or another project of some kind. Rare is the day on a quest like that where you are able to find the majority of the stuff you need in one place and grab it all in one shot. Well, if you are looking to build a Max Wedge engine, you better take a look below, oh and maybe have a paper bag to breath into as well. Why? Because there is a dude selling heads, valve covers, and even a cross ram with the carbs AND linkage! You need to build a short block and then stuff all these parts on top and voila, you are the mayor of Wedgeville.
These are proper 1962 model year heads and they were used both in 1962 and 1963. The same exact heads were used even though the engine was expanded from 413ci to 426ci that following year. The heat passage was removed from these heads as opposed to “normal” heads, the valves 2.08/1.88 were way larger than the passenger car heads, and the valve springs were beefed to handle the weight of the valves and the increased RPM potential. Long story short, these things were about the baddest cylinder head ever stuffed onto a factory V8 at that time.
If you are building a classic Mopar and want that classic Mopar look and performance…here it is.
