Wiring a car can be so overwhelming for a lot of people, which is why there are so many wiring companies offering kits that help you do your own installation. With that said, many people still don’t understand what is going on inside their electrical system with regard to what components are doing and how they all work together. This is especially true when it comes to race cars with a master power cutoff switch. That one trips up a lot of people who get it wrong.

In this video, you are going to get a walk-through on what components do what and how they all work together. It’s a good watch, will probably teach you something that you didn’t realize you didn’t know and will make you better at doing an install.

Video Description:

In this video, I show the basics of wiring for a hotrod, drift car, ratty muscle car or race car. I include how I wired a GM 3-wire 10si / 12si Alternator, along with a 12v automotive fuse box and a starter circuit. I used 200A Cole Hersee Relays power the fuse box and the starter. I discuss the differences between continuous use vs non-continuous use solenoids and the importance of using diodes.
