2020 Rob’s Rod Shop Open House Gallery: Gathering Up The Cars For An Early Get Together!

2020 Rob’s Rod Shop Open House Gallery: Gathering Up The Cars For An Early Get Together!

(Photos and words: Joe Grippo)

This past Saturday we put the wrenches and ratchets down and crawled out from our garage, leaving the race car still transmission less and my wife’s Mustang project still not finished. And much like the official rodent of our home state of Pennsylvania we saw our shadows due to this mysterious bright yellow ball way up in the air, after weeks of rain and overcast skies it was a welcome break. This rare sunny February Saturday just happen to coincide with the annual Rob’s Rod Sop Open House a few towns over, so off we went! With their 2020 shindig falling on Valentine’s weekend this year, proprietors Rob and Erin McCall dubbed this year’s edition the “Nothing Says Love Like Horsepower Open House”. Perfect!

Rob’s Rod Shop, located in Downingtown, Pa is a cool slice of gearhead nirvana, part repair/installation facility, part old school speed shop and they have a hub dyno, truly a one stop for all your Bangshifting needs. We picked up a Quick Fuel billet fuel regulator while we were there! Poking around inside the shop we spied Rob’s personal Shelby Dakota pick-up project that was well underway, along with a sweet ’68 Super Bee in for some upgrades. Rob, Erin and John laid out a spread of food and cleared out a bay for some bench racing space and the locals showed up in droves. It was great running into so many friends we hadn’t seen since the tracks and car shows folded up for the winter. And thanks to all the recent rain washing the salt of the roads, many brought their hot rods out for the festivities. The McCall’s are of the Mopar persuasion but enjoy and work on everything as evidenced by the variety of customer cars filling the parking lot. The Delaware Valley Mopar Association made a strong showing along with a few Mustangs, some Chevy muscle, some killer ‘50’s iron and lots more filling any open space in the packed lot. Restored muscle, modern EFI converted street machines, trucks and street rods were everywhere and most had some Rob’s Rod Shop DNA in them. Check out the photos and thanks to Rob and Erin for hosting us.
