While there was plenty to enjoy on Friday at the Car Craft Summer Nationals, there was one lingering question that sat in the back of my mind: Was it just me, or were the show fields missing cars? To be quite fair to the organizers, this is the first event that they have done in Bowling Green, and even with promotion, it takes time to adjust to a new facility and possibly longer trips to show off and race. But as I left Beech Bend, I thought that maybe it was just because it was a weekday, and that Saturday would be better.
I wasn’t wrong. The cars came out in force on Saturday. It’s not LS Fest huge (that show is a monster), but many, many more cars showed up and fans were milling around fans were checking out everything, from the cars in the show fields and on the Manufacturer’s Midway to the racing action that was taking place, both at the strip and in the circle track. As the sun started to set, the buildup towards the Midnight Drags was thick enough to cut…but you’ll have to wait a little longer to see how that all went down!
