Cruise-In Photos From Filmore’s Dairy Hut In Florence Kentucky. Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Street Machines, Classics And Trucks!

(Words and Photos by Doug Gregory) Doug Gregory is one of the faithful team of BANGshift contributors who take time out of their favorite shows or races to take photos so we can share them with all of you. He’s been doing it for a while now, but like most of our contributors didn’t have much to shoot in 2020 so he’s been glad to blow the rust off here in 2021. To tell you the truth, Doug’s been battling some health issues and so it has been hard for him to get out there and do what he loves. We’re incredibly grateful that he got to go out and enjoy his day and actually thought to share it with all of us. Thank you Doug.

Here is what Doug wrote:

So…long time since I sent anything in for consideration to publish on BangShift. Lots been going on. This gallery is my first attempt to put a collection together, start writing the story, and actually complete it.

We ended up going to Filmore’s as part of our planned day. Earlier in the day, we were supposed to go to Lawrenceburg, IN for the Cruise to a Cure (for ALS). We actually did leave the house, but at the gas stop I told my youngest son I was about ready to turn around. We made it about 50 miles up I-75 when I’d had enough and we went back home. I wasn’t doing well. I rested, and we went to Filmore’s to salvage the day. It was sprinkling and several folks toughed it out and brought their cars. We missed a few handfuls that left when the liquid began to fall, but we still saw a good bit though we didn’t get a snap of all. Many were cars we hadn’t previously seen so that was a treat. Our DJ was a bit late because he had been at the Cruise to a Cure and he told us it was busting at the seams. They had more cars show up than space to put them. We ate and I splurged on a chocolate malt (don’t tell). All in all, I am glad I made myself go so we could get the ball rolling on doing gearhead stuff in 2021.

If you haven’t been to the Sunday evening Filmore’s cruise (Florence, KY 5-8:30pm) I highly suggest it. Relaxed atmosphere, nice people, some interesting cars, and great food from a family-owned and ran establishment.

Enjoy the photos.  Doug.
