(Photos by Charles Wickam) – Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, The Kontinentals drop the first ever Bayou Round Up on the world and it is a smashing success. The streets of Lafayette, Louisiana were jumpin’ with great music, cars, and hot rod culture over the course of the weekend and we were there. Charles Wickam reports that the event was big time fun and that he cannot wait until next year rolls around and it all happens again. If the Kontinentals name seems familiar, it should. This is the same group that put on the Lonestar Round Up on Austin, Texas as well as the awesome Day of the Drags event that we have covered here at BangShift for years. These guys get what car dudes and dudettes want to have fun. They want a cool city, they want stuff to see, and they want some fun things to do. More about a full immersion hot rod experience than parking in the best spot, this event has gotten rave reviews from all corners.
Charles had his picture taking machine with him while he was at the Bayou Round Up and he sent us a load of great photos to share. This is the first and there will be more coming this week as we look at cool hot rods, trucks, old race cars, and beautiful kustoms. We’re jealous that Wickam was there and we were not. Jerk!
Lots of cool traditional stuff. Like much.
Please for the love of God promote this better. I just got back from Cruisin’ the Coast the Sunday before this where I spent well over $2000 in 4 days. I surely would have driven across town to look at some cool old iron for $10!!!
