(Photos and words by Doug Gregory) – The laid back feel to this event was great and belies the huge amount of effort put in by all the volunteers and the massive amount of support given in donations. It would be awesome if we could add another 100 or vehicles a year and its clear they have room for it. Make plans to attend if you can and come enjoy the hot rodding community. The support and camaraderie in this group is some of the best I’ve seen this side of military life.
On a side note, we watched a handful of rides take to the Dyno. The biggest numbers were put out by a silver ’67 Camaro putting up 654hp NA and 927hp on Juice with the ambient temps hovering at 103deg. These are uncorrected numbers and I’d say the dyno was being just a bit stingy. For an added treat for the day Dave Huber brought over his blown gas Dragmaster chassis out and did a bit of cackle for the crowd. Too cool.
In addition to all this they had a raffle to give away a built LSX with all sorts of nice parts and good looks. How could you go wrong attending this event…
Some highlights of this last event gallery:
Joe Hurley’s awesome Deuce 3-window. So slick
Spy shot from inside the guarded walls of Shelby’s Speed and Kustom
A hot-rodded six in a Falcon. Not every day fare.
C5 ZO6 Vette with a cam, headers, and tune pushing 413 uncorrected-hp to the rollers at 7,000rpm
’66 pale-yellow El Camino that was super nice
Enjoy.
Great Show in Lexington, Ky. Ya gotta go there next year.
