(Photos by Bob Chiluk) – Yesterday we brought you a photo tour of the super cool Desert Valley Auto Parts junkyard in Arizona, and today we’re bringing you to one of the coolest vintage Ford shops in the world, the Allen Mest’s amazing shrine to all that is old school and blue oval. What’s super interesting about this amazing collection and workshop is that Mest was an LA firefighter who started this whole deal as a side job and it morphed into the incredible collection of cars and parts you’ll see in this gallery.
From the amazing cars to the vintage signs, tools, parts, and stacks of Flathead V8 engines, there is an amazing gearhead aura emanating from the shop. Mest tinkers and stuff in the shop these days. He’s not cranking out work or thrashing about like someone on a reality show or anything. Bob says that he’ll turn out a motor a month for a friend, or a customer…although it seems most of Mest’s customers are friends!
The shop is about 7,000 sq/ft and Mest has been at the same location for 40 years. In that time he has never passed an old Ford part he didn’t like or need. As you will see in this gallery, he has 10 of everything and 5 of some stuff you never even knew existed.
Lots of guys build shops and work way to hard to get the vibe that Mest has going on here. This is genuine, 100% no BS reality and we think that it really is one of the coolest shops in the world. Whether you are a Ford guy on not, there is plenty to gawk at in Bob’s awesome gallery. Hit the link below to see more!
