Bitchin’ Museum Gallery: The Eastern Museum Of Motor Racing – Motors, Cars, Memorabilia

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs, Pennsylvania is one of the great automotive gems on the east coast. The museum is full to the rafters with engines, cars, and memorabilia like you wouldn’t believe. Lots of the stuff in the museum is centered around Pennsylvania’s great tradition of dirt track racing and because of that there are sprint cars galore, Offy engines just laying about, and lots of history lionizing the brave racers who took to the dirt tracks in the state with lots of horsepower and lots less chassis under them. Joe Grippo recently visited the museum and shot a TON of photos. We’re going to dole them out to you in a controlled fashion as to keep you from sensory overload.

One of the things that impresses us about this place is the amount of old race track stuff that they have in the form of signs, handbills, and other items that normally get lost, stolen, destroyed, or otherwise consumed by history. There have been LOTS of tracks that have lived and died in the state of PA over the years and this place is seemingly filled with memories, parts, pieces, trophies, and other memories from virtually all of them. This is a first gallery to get your proverbial feet wet. We’ll be back tomorrow with more.

Thanks Joe for the photos!
