Lately all we’ve heard is Rides and Latte’s is the biggest show ever! There were like 8 jillion cars! And if it wasn’t for the fact that hot rods and muscle cars are taking over those events, much to the annoyance of the snooty import super car bastards, then I would really really hate them. You see, it kind of annoys us because the cool local cruise-in, cruise night, whatever you want to call it, is pretty bad ass and a part of hot rodding history. So we want them to keep on keeping on.
Luckily for those of you in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, there are still plenty of small cruise ins each and every week. I know, because my dad is always talking about Thursday nights and Saturday mornings with all his car buddies. But I also know because Dave McNurlen told me so and sent us pictures to prove it. See Dave hangs out with a great group of guys at what could be the most perfect cruise in spot ever. It’s Busy B’s Bakery, home of “The World’s Best Cinnamon Rolls”, at 3701 Southwest Blvd. (on the traffic circle), in Fort Worth Texas. I’m what you call a “Cinnamon Roll Expert”, and although I haven’t personally ate one of B’s (aka Patti McKindley) kick ass cinnamon rolls, I tend to believe her. And since everyone that’s anyone cruises into Busy B’s on Sunday mornings, a fresh baked cinnamon roll and coffee is just what you need. Oh, and did I mention you can eat that cinnamon roll, and drink that coffee, while walking the lot looking at a twin turbo small block Chevy powered 911 Porsche? Or is a ’32 Ford more your speed? Camaros? Mustangs? How bout the paddy wagon? They have it all. And as long as you don’t block the spots right in front of the door, Busy B’s is all about having the hot rods on sight.
