Event Coverage: Autocross Action and Car Show Photos From Goodguys Lonestar Nationals

It was cold as hell at the Goodguys Fall Lonestar Nationals this weekend, but that didn’t stop a huge crowd from showing up at the car show and autocross. The Texas Motorspeedway was packed, and there was tons of horsepower on display racing around the largest track the Goodguys Autocross series runs on all year. Bret Voelkel, from Ridetech, took home the win in the Pro Class behind the wheel of the Ridetech ’33 Ford, and padded his already impressive lead in the 2012 points chase.

Plenty of killer cars were running on the autocross all weekend, and Steve Shackelford took home the Street Rod win in his dad’s ’23 T-Bucket while Terry Neuville took home the Street Machine win in his ’68 Camaro. The truck category was won by Andy Halliburton in his ’70 El Camino, although Duke Roddy and Brandon Carter were right on his heals. In fact, Duke blew up the 5.3 LS motor in his ’65 Chevy truck while trying to steal the win from Andy. We’ve got great photos of some of autocross action, plus cool cars from the show.

The Ridetech '33 Ford has been an R&D mule all year and it keeps getting better and better. We took a ride this weekend and can tell you it and Bret are becoming one. Scary killer fast, and we love it.

We would totally drive this. It has cartoon cool mixed with ultra nice paint. Oh and did we mention it has a blower? Yeah, the wide whites are nothing compared to the blown hemi.
