Since we’ve been mowing down the “50 photos” galleries of different styles of cars, we thought it was time to switch gears a little and showcase the coolest part of any hot rod, the engine. In this gallery we grabbed 50 photos from our extensive BangShift photos archive and we promise that it isn’t overrun with small block Chevys. In this collection you’ll see Buicks of differing cylinder counts, Pontiacs, four banger Fords of multi-generations, perhaps a Yamaha V6 or two, and a few that had us double and triple taking due to weirdo induction systems.
As much as we associate cars by what is on the outside of them, the innards say a lot about the owner as well. Is there a practical guy who stuck together a 350hp mouse motor and has cruised tens of thousands of miles on it? Maybe there is a 500ci Hemi with a solid roller cam in it that is happy at 7,500RPM and no where else. Or there’s a chance the guy is a total nut for old school stuff so he’s got a little flattie four or a hella obsolete early Cadillac or Olds motor in there.
This is a pure gearhead gallery. 50 engines and nothing but!

All of these great engines and not one 348 or 409 Chevy. Why not?
That should be self explanatory.
Blown Pontiacs=AWESOME!
