When I arrived in Florida last week, Chad was still several hours behind me as his flight was still making its way toward the Sunshine State. With time to kill and a camera to use I headed down to Deerfield Park, Florida and dropped in on Howard Tanner and the crew at Redline Motorsports. Tanner’s operation is very impressive and the successes his company has had with taking late model performance cars and bringing them to the next level is impressive. Redline gained a lot of notoriety a few years back for their program of swapping 427ci LS engines into factory fresh fith gen Camaros. That program ended up as a huge success because the company modified nearly 80 cars with that swap. From that big win, Howard Tanner knew that his future was going to be tied to late model performance cars and specifically how to make them work better.
Originally up in New York, the company is now down in Florida and judging by what you’ll see in the photos and what I saw at the shop and parked outside, the Florida move was certainly the right one. With a warmer climate that lends itself to year round automotive fun, there are more people in line for work at Redline then there would be if the company was stuck under a glacier in NY at this time of the year.
Everything in the shop is great. From the C7 Vette with a brand new supercharging setup on it churning out big numbers on the dyno to the famed “ZLR” Camaro that is waiting patiently for a motor to be installed in it, to the nitrous huffing CTS-V Â pictured in the gallery, it is all cool stuff. Shop owner Howard Tanner has previous experience and great contacts at GM which allows him to delve into some new technology (like direct injection) before it hits the streets. This is instrumental stuff for a business based around on building reliable and very fast cars like Redline is in.
Cruise through the gallery below and check out the cool cars. We’re 100% appreciative to Redline and for allowing us to come in to the shop and film stuff.
