(Photos by Bob Chiluk) We’re into all kinds of cars around here, but Bob Chiluk who shot these photos is fond of saying “I like them all, sure I’m a muscle car guy, but I’m also into Lowriders, Lambos, and Lawnmowers!” and we can’t really argue with that. While on his annual California pilgrimage with father in law Jim, he hit up Cars and Coffee in Irvine California for some high end coolness. I have to admit I have not been before, but after seeing what was there I just might have to start. My dad goes to Cars and Coffee in Dallas all the time and their normal turn out is over 1000 cars. 1000 CARS! The interesting thing there in Dallas is that there are just as many hot rods, muscle cars, and street machines as exotics and sports cars. Not so here in Sunny So Cal, as the one in Irvine has mostly exotics and sports cars. But look at the bitchin ones that showed up!
We are seriously turned on by the Factory Porsche race cars that were in attendance, including a real deal 917! Of course the Carrera 6, real GT40s, and Panteras, Coyotes, and much much more had our little hearts thumping as well. The place had ultra killer cars and you HAVE to check out the entire gallery!
Wow, a Porsche 917 sitting next to a 908….. Is that the real 70 winning Le Mans 917? How did he make it streetable, looks like he has a license plate…. I’ve always been intrigued by cars and coffee and always wanted to go, but it’s too early…but with all the cool cars that shows up every week, i guess it would be worth giving up a long Saturday morning sleep 🙂

My friend built this in his backyard garage in just 2 1/2 months. It’s registered as a ’69 Intl Scout.

A 917, sitting next to a 906, sitting next to a real 914GT, sitting next to a real 911R. All driven to Cars and Coffee, no trailers here. Wow! I had a woodie all before 9 in the morning.
