Friday at the PRI show didn’t quite go to plan for yours truly. As we were hitting up the closest drive-through for breakfast, the Angry Grandpa Chrysler’s oil pressure readout flatlined. No joke, the gauge was saying zero…and maybe five if I gave the car a little rev. Turns out that the oil pressure sensor crapped out, but when you’ve suddenly started measuring your car’s lifespan in minutes, it’s not a good day. Combine that with a snow system moving in, and suddenly there was a rush to get out of Indy. This meant that I had to make the most out of what was going to be my last day at the show.

The best thing about PRI is that it’s concentrated: Professional Racing Industry. This isn’t about show wheels or sound systems or any other fluffy crap. This is hardware, hard engine parts, suspension components, brakes, safety gear, transmissions. And while it’s no small layout, compared to SEMA, it’s absolutely tiny. You can honestly see everything in a quick sweep in one day, and if you take your time and plan out your list, two days is plenty of time. Or you can spend a half-hour at each booth admiring the wares. Being absolutely honest, I did that a couple of times.
