SEMA 2018: More Monday Sneak-Peek Photos!

Walking into the Convention Center on the day before SEMA officially kicks off shows you the monster behind the monstrous show. Pallets and crates are everywhere as workers roll out carpet, lay down sod (not kidding at all), hang up the overhead direction signs and run forklifts here, there and just about everywhere. If you’ve ever been on the floor, you wouldn’t recognize the cars under plastic wrap as commands are yelled across the floor. But if you are quick and keep an ever-watching eye out for rolling traffic that weighs more than you do, you can weave in and out and see some really neat things, usually closer than you would when the show is open.

Me being me, first things were first: I had to go find the 1973 Chevelle Laguna that Chevrolet brought. It is as glorious as I expected, and the 1978 K10 that the brought is just as sweet. But the gem so far has been the Ford B-100…it was completely unexpected! And there were still plenty more cars coming in to be prepped and set up. Which is what I’m going to check out, since I’m writing this up Monday evening. We’ve got the after-hours access and I intend on exploiting that for all it’s worth, so stay tuned for more SEMA coverage!

That Ford SUV in the Energy Suspension booth – was that a factory body style, or did somebody piece it together out of a ’70s Suburban and an F100? I’ve never seen an SUV based on the ’70s Ford fullsize trucks before.
