Woodward is automotive overload. I’ll even put it above the SEMA show. At least, at SEMA, you have a small chance to see just about everything within the week. At Woodward, you don’t have a prayer. Your garden variety car show is a glass of water, your typical “major” show is like a bucket. Woodward is drinking from a fire hose held by a very angry firefighter…you will be bowled over before you even begin to grasp what’s going on here.
And it’s not just the sheer numbers of the weekend that will catch you off-guard, either. It’s what you will see. When Haley came up to me to tell me she had seen six of the same kind of car, white with stripes, kinda big, I wasn’t sure what she was talking about. When I saw no less than six 1977 Pontiac Can Ams rolling towards their club parking lot, with two Chevrolet Monza Mirages in pursuit…that’s when you start to understand the amount of lunacy going on between 8 Mile and The Loop!
