Anybody who knows Cleetus, knows that he can tear up just about anything. I can’t even begin to guess the number of engines he’s blown up over the years, but it’s an insane number. I’m sure some of those can be attributed to poor tunes, some due to poor parts, some due to poor engine builds, and some to the racing gods. He’s certainly not easy on parts, so having good stuff in his engine builds is important, and so is regular maintenance and refreshes. Any engine will need rebuilt at some point if it lives long enough, and tearing down an engine that isn’t broken is as important as figuring out one that is broken.
In the video below you can watch Peter Harrell, owner and head engine builder at Harrell Engine and Dyno (aka HED), tear down the LS engine out of Leroy.
