We’re thrashing to get ready for SEMA around here and that means the warmth of Las Vegas for a few days, at least for this east coaster. With snow flurries in the forecast for the weekend, my wife is ready to wring my neck and my kids think that they’ll be socked in for Monday. I’m trying to talk them all off the ledge as I inch my way towards the door this week. I mention all of this because the weather at the 2014 California Hot Rod Reunion was California perfect and while we don’t have heat-o-vision perfected yet (our lab is working on it) these will surely warm you up after some time out in the fall air if you are a resident of the northern climes like me. From gassers to awesome roadsters like the incredible pieces shown above, the ‘slammer crowd really put on a good show during the race. There are no pro mods in this collection of photos so if you like ’em with mostly stock bodies these are the cars you want to see.
One of the things that always trips us out about the reunion is the fact that there are still cars that we have never seen showing up every year. People put this on their “once in a lifetime trip” list and tow their cars from all corners to compete. Remember, this whole reunion business was designed to be a one year only deal…two decades ago. Ever since, the race has gotten bigger and more important as the living history of drag racing converges on Bakersfield each fall. We love this stuff, we love this race and you will love these cars.
if anybody knows of a `27 roadster or has one for sale, please leave some info on here…..
thanks, ratso
