2014 Yellow Bullet Nationals: Action Photos From From The Sensational Event At Cecil County Dragway

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – It has only taken a few years for the Yellow Bullet Nationals to establish itself as one of the premier small tire/radial drag races in the world. The event has fed on itself and draws entries from all over the country in classes ranging from Top Sportsman to 8.50 index cars, to 275 radial machines, and whatever else you can dream up. There were records set this year both in car count, spectator count, and on-track performance. We know of nearly a dozen racers from the BS eastern world HQ area that hit the road for Cecil County and probably twice that in spectators that just wanted to be at the strip and see the event go down.

Our man Joe Grippo was on the scene and he reports that it was one of the coolest races he has ever been to. The performances were insane and the party was even crazier. One of the reasons people love these cars so much outside of the wall to wall action is the fact that they still very much look like cars. That may sound dumb to say but production bodies are the rule of the day from top to bottom in this gallery and that’s bad ass. Even the cars and trucks running big blown engines don’t look like they were left out in the sun too long if you get where we’re going here. Combine huge power with small tires, great looks, and crazy action and you have a formula that will pack Cecil County Dragway until the end of time. For reals.

If I am not mistaken the car count was higher at the YB Nats than at the NHRA Indy race held the same weekend. Take that NHRA!

Uhhh….No. Not even close. Stock and Super Stock alone had ALMOST as many entries at Indy as the total number of cars at the Yellowbullet Nats.
