2017 NHRA Circle K Winternationals! Here’s Our Final Big Blast Of Photos

2017 NHRA Circle K Winternationals! Here’s Our Final Big Blast Of Photos

(Photos by Wes Allison) – We have finally reached the end of the line with our 2017 NHRA Circle K Winternationals photos. That’s good timing because I’m currently on an airplane heading to the second race of the season outside of Phoenix, Arizona. This first event may have set the tone for a few interesting stories.

The first was the dominating performance of Leah Pritchett and her Papa John’s top fuel dragster. The car was amazingly consistent and boy was it quick! Round after round it was the car to beat and she was the first female to qualify number one at the event since Shirley Muldowney did it in 1977. That’s a pretty cool stat and unto itself.

Both Summit cars made the finals in Pro Stock, and it was Matt Hagan taking home the funny car category honors. Hagan’s brother died suddenly and unexpectedly over the winter and he has said multiple times that he is racing with even more motivation this season because of the things that happened to him and his family over the winter. That could be bad news for everyone else.

Oh, an apparently there was some sort of argument between Schumacher and Force? Heard anything about that? Just kidding, we know it has been beaten to death.
