(Photos by Wes Allison) – It was a crazy week in Southern California with the wildfires burning within about 60-70 miles of the track. By the time we weekend was done we were seeing the effects of the blowing smoke in the sky, especially in the evenings. As that calamity was happening, drag racers were pounding the surface at Auto Club Dragway at Pomona hard. This is our last batch of Thursday based sportsman photos and they cover a myriad of classes like Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Super Gas, and more.
It was a historic weekend in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing series as David Rampy picked up his 100th career national event victory and joined the most exclusive club in NHRA drag racing along with John Force, Frank Manzo, and Dan Fletcher. Pretty amazing stuff. There were also guys who scooped up their first national event, racers like Roger Kato.

What happened? There’s an unusually high percentage of Mopar pictures in this post. Is someone at BS ill?
