(Photos by Benoit Pigeon) – We’re back with more killer Benoit Pigeon images from the 2018 NHRA Fitzgerald USA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. The track at Bristol reached near untold levels of heat during a blistering weekend in Tennessee forcing crews, drivers, and tuners to do things and make decisions that they’ve likely never made before.
Pro stock was its normally insane class with the field grouped tightly from top to bottom in qualifying and it provided nail biting action in eliminations with Jeg Coughlin Jr. grabbing his third race win in as many tries. The sub-story there is the fact that he won Chicago in pro stock, Virginia in super comp, and then Bristol in pro stock again. He’s shooting for the four race win streak this weekend at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio. Wild!
Ron Capps won in funny car and Tony Schumacher in top fuel grabbing the other titles from the weekend. Capps is looking good with Rahn Tobler tuning the five disc clutch package like a boss and Tony Schumacher’s duo of Phil Shuler and Mike Neff as tuners have really gotten that team back into championship form this year.
