2018 NHRA Virginia Nationals Photo Coverage: Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle Action From The Blazing Strip

(Photos by David Whealon) – We’re back with more awesome photos from the 2018 NHRA Virginia Nationals, this time featuring pro stock and pro stock motorcycle action. The bikes and the cars all loved the brand new surface at VMP and we saw incredible performances for the stew pot-like weather conditions. Obviously the naturally aspirated engines in both the motorcycles and cars were not making the same power they make in the fall at the sea-level mineshaft races but the race surface was so good that the teams were able to get more aggressive with their tune-ups and make the most of it.

The most amazing thing to watch at this track were the burnouts. The thing is so smooth, cars would begin spinning the tires as they rolled through the water box before the drivers gave them throttle! It was LE Tonglet taking the win in pro stock bike and Tanner Gray taking the win in pro stock car. Two younger competitors and two guys who certainly had the reflexes and mojo to get the work done and leave with the hardware.

The fields were full and the action was great in Virginia. Check out these photos from Virginia Motorsports Park.
