(Photos by Joe Grippo) – There’s something about historic cars, especially race cars, that really draws gearheads in. The lead photos shows the legendary Al Joniec’s famed “Batmobile” Mustang. This was a car that was known all over the country for its quickness, wild looks, and the talent of the man behind the wheel. Remember, it was Joniec that really launched the FE into the stratosphere with his victory at the 1969 NHRA Winternationals in the then-new Cobra Jet Mustang. It isn’t just the cars, though.
No, as cliche as it is to say it is the people that really cause events like the FE Race and Reunion to survive and flourish. Events like this don’t just have the old legends to being people into the gate, they create friendships and lasting relationships between people who share the same deep passion for the same deeply cool stuff.
