We don’t really care whether you like electric cars or not, this video is pretty awesome. You are going to see the premier Ford Performance drivers in racing including Joey Logano, Chelsea DeNofa, Hailie Deegan, Vaughn Gittin Jr, Ken Block, and others get in their respective machines and throw down with the 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E1400 which is a 1,400hp version of the upcoming electric Mustang Mach-E. The horsepower is one thing but the torque which allows this creation to annihilate tires like its no one’s business is just astonishing.
Yes, it sounds like some sort of electric shaver from hell. Or it sounds like something that has a very large supercharger on it that is making the whine of the century so the noise factor does not match the roaring engines in the other cars, which are all V8 powered but glory be, the performance is wild.
At the end of the day, electric cars have and continue to overcome the hurdles that many people said would be their demise so many years ago. Tesla continues to crank them out, Ford is coming with an onslaught of them, GM is, well GM is doing whatever the heck GM does, and companies like Rivian are pushing things like electric pickup trucks ahead.
Having recently spent time in two electric cars (stories forthcoming) we can tell you that while they lack noise they don’t lack the ability to jam you in the seat and make you smile. We think that the Mach-E, which not named the way we would have done it, will be an awesome vehicle to drive and have fun with. It’s going to be fast as blazes and this video sets the tone for that. No, it won’t be packing the E-1400 levels of power but heck, even half would make it a monster!
Sounds like a dentist drill. Hard pass.
You got that right! It’s ugly too.
No one EVER talks about electric range in cold climates. I need to check on my parents all times of the year and some of those days are well below zero. Warms days are around freezing. Now factor in at least 100 miles each way with the heater and defroster blasting. See where this is going? Nowhere.
My boss has a Tesla model 3 dual motor and it RIPS and corners really well due to all the battery weight down low in the center.
It is great TRANSPORTATION…but I’m not sure if there is enough sensory input to be an enthusiasts car….?
Similar to todays great automatics and DCTs. Are they better than a manual? By the numbers, yes, in almost every way. Are they more FUN? That’s when things get objective.
“We don’t really care if you like electric cars or not”
Good to know
Its good to know we should be (forced) happy about the future and electric cars. Guess every sponsor here that supports fuel powered vehicles should stop advertising and fold up since everyone is telling us this is such a better future and we are bad people for supporting this industry.
hmm
???
Call this 4 door PC POS whatever you want but not a Mustang. This abomination does not deserve the banner of the most successful US built enthusiast car in history. Leave it to the greedy bastards at Ford who once again have given the middle finger to millions of consumers whose continued support of the Mustang (along with F150’s) almost certainly kept Ford afloat and not needing a federal bailout unlike the other two US automakers.
I own an 08 GT500, 96 302 F150 and an 11 5.0 F150. I had a 69 428CJ 4spd stripper Torino , a 72 351CJ Torino,83 turbo GT bikes boats , name it. The truth is electric motors build peak torque at 1 rpm. The right motor/battery combo in a given car will completely destroy a gas motor in the same chassis. I’m a gas V8 guy but there is no way I’m going to sell the electrics short. Tesla ludicrous mode will spank my (and likely your) brawler all day long… until the battery is dead that is. My Shelby goes 250 to a tank. I can fill up in a few minutes, electrics can’t but I also don’t have a gas pump at home and I can have a charger installed so I can beat it like a rented mule for my 30 mile commute. Facts are facts and high HP electrics are ridiculously impressive. I love all my V8 American muscle but I won’t be like the Harley rider dismissing the “rice rocket” super bikes. I’ve owned built Buells (fun and awesome sounding) 4and 6 cylinder super bikes ( Man that CBX sounded like nothing on the planet short of an F1 car at full song) BUT just like a base ecoboost Mustang can spank that super cool ‘32 with the built flathead and Strombergs, speed counts. My GT500 is a keeper and I’ll drive it till I can’t buy gas but my 2025? 26? 30 ? Electric car/truck/suv will probably bury it in any speed contest. So no matter how cool my blown cammer V8 6 speed shiny Mustang is if it’s young electric brother can beat it well , I’ll need one of those.
If there was a point to this, I missed it.
The mock E reminds me of a hyperactive RC car on a 3S lipo battery. Not what I’m looking for, thanks.
If I was going to get the one smoking the meats in the video sure , but the damn corporate lawyers are gonna make Ferd sell some nannyised POS gussied up prius wanna be .
I’m trying to look at this from both sides, but I do have concerns with how is this better? Acceleration sure, battery charge time not good, can you work on it hell no, environmental friendly um no in fact it’s worse, when it breaks down then what?
As my dad would say, the ends don’t equal the means.
I guess we’re being punished for liking internal combustion engines. I love technology but what are electrics built for anyway, think about it.
DON’T CARE!
Borrringggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg…
Just say NO to cars with no ENGINE.
Note to Bangshift:
Nobody cares.
That is all.
