(Photos by David Whealon) – Good things come to those who wait, right? Well, anyone that waited through the sopping wet hell of Gainesville Wednesday though Saturday was rewarded with 1.5 days of drag racing the likes of which the NHRA Amalie Oil Gatornationals had not seen in some time. There was the PepBoys Top Fuel All-Star Call Out, there were records in multiple categories, and there were 10s of thousands of fans packed into the drag strip to see it all happen.

Everyone had to shuck and jive. Our initial callout plan was to have it at the starting line. When that area was being deluged, it was moved into the Top Eliminator Club and it became a far more dry and pleasurable indoor event. It came off without a hitch, the only major problem was the delay in getting racing on Saturday and the fact we only got one round completed. It will be finished at Indy.
