Happy 6/15! Let’s Celebrate By Watching A 615ci Big Block Make 962hp To The Tires On A Hub Dyno!

Today is a big block kind of day for sure. The 615ci big block may not be as common as the 632ci combos that exist all over drag racing, pulling, and mud racing, but as we’ll see here, they can make plenty of steam when the moment calls for it. This 1968 HK Monaro with a 615ci Chevy built by Sunset Racing Engines roars out 962hp on the hub dyno while looking like an absolute showpiece. Sunset is well known as a builder of drag racing engines and this 615 is similar to what you can find in a lot of sportsman dragsters and door slammers.

The neatest thing to us is that this chunky little monkey of a car ran 8s with the engine not in top nick and the guy does not spin it nay harder than 7,500 RPM. This has to be a brutal freaking car on the street where traction is non-existent at these power levels, right?

You’ll see a couple of dyno rips and then an interview with the owner. So, congrats 6/15. You may not be an OEM displacement like your smaller siblings but you bring us joy and a mighty noise on this day!

Press play to see this 1968 HK Monaro make 962 NA horsepower to the wheels!
