This is a neat episode of the NHRA Insider Podcast because the guests and the topics are pretty juicy. There’s Antron Brown who just yesterday announced that he has formed AB Motorsports which will be spun out of Don Schumacher Racing over time and be its own entity. Effectively, Antron announced that he is becoming his own team owner with the help of Don Schumacher. In his interview on the show, Brown talks about how this came about, what his goals are long-term, and what he plans on accomplishing in 2020.
Jason Line is the other guest on the show and after a few weeks to digest his announcement of retirement from driving at the close of 2020 we talk about why he made this choice, what his goals are for this season, and how living in the shop will change his focus at KB Racing . Effectively Line will be returning to his roots as an engine builder and provider of horsepower to power his team down the strip.
The third angle of this show is a rant about the recent changes that the NHRA has made with regard to the “Countdown” portion of the season. Long story short, it is not a flamboyant defense of the changes but an honest look at the how and why parts of the decision, my personal thoughts, and some of the dumb things people have been saying on the internet. Yes, there are dumb people on the internet.
One of the best shows of the series so far, check it out!
