You Asked, We Provide: Here’s More Footage Of The “Kut Da Check” Chevy Caprice!

Remember that video a few days ago that involved big-wheel cars running the strip on drag-sort rubber? Yeah…I ran that solely for the intent on working up some nerves and judging from the comments I read…yeah, I worked a couple over with a belt sander and some 80-grit. The fantastic thing about this hobby is that everyone has an opinion, and you know the saying about opinions. But one theme that ran through pretty much everywhere the BangShift link for the video went sounded something like this: “We want more information on that box Chevy!”

Yeah, you do. This 1987 Chevrolet Caprice is absolutely infamous in the South. This is the “Kut da Check” car, and it’s been a grudge runner for years. I won’t pretend to know how long or even guess at the whole story behind it. What little I do know is that it was raced by Johnny prior to his death a couple of years ago, and that everybody who knows the car has wanted to see it back out on the strip moving. The powertrain is a guess, though there is no question that a ProCharger is doing the hero’s work underneath that massive hood. What’ll it run? Good question. The answer: according to what I find, this Caprice runs with the clocks off.

Something tells me I need to make a trip to Georgia to meet this monster…what do y’all think?
