Some days, it just ain’t your day. You’ll usually know it within ten minutes of waking up. But there are other days where your luck runs out just as things were going good, and for Mitchell Luke, his moment arrived a split-second after he launched his Sportsman-class Chevrolet S-10 down Willowbank Raceway. Instead of making a nice, straight pass as we’re sure Luke had intended, the S-10 broke loose and aimed at the right-side wall before a steering correction put the Chevy onto two wheels and into a hopping motion that had to have disturbed a line of something flammable. How do we know that? Well…the fire that lights up shortly after the truck starts to rock onto it’s other two wheels is a pretty good sign. According to Drag Racing Times Australia, Luke made repairs and was running the next day just fine. Shame nobody asked about the new firesuit he might have needed after this hopper!
