BangShift EXCLUSIVE: We Spoke To Big Chief And Got The Extent Of His Injuries

BangShift.com reached out to Justin “Big Chief” Shearer this morning and we got the extend of his injuries from the high speed crash that totaled his famed Crow 1972 Pontiac LeMans.

In an exchange with Chad Reynolds, Shearer said, l
Bruised lungs, and on oxygen right now. Crushed my L2 and L3 in my back, broken collarbone, and pretty beat up, but so thankful to be alive right now. The trauma doc just said he doesn’t think they are going to have to transfer me to OU med center anymore which is good. He said I can probably go home tonight.”

Amazingly, Shearer also told us that he did not know the extent of the mess until this morning. “They just woke me up for breathing treatments and I demanded someone to read me the Bangshift page to see how bad the crash was. ”

Yikes! As the situation continues to evolve we’ll keep you up to date. At this point we do not know the condition of the other driver in relation to Chief’s.

Thanks for the update, I’m glad to know that he’s doing well and that prospects are looking up.

I only know him as one of the guys that Freiburger and Finnegan visited with on the Blasphemy road trip, but he came across as a good guy. I only hope that his road to recovery is a smooth one!

  2. Detroit

He was racing Brian “chucky” Davis

Davis is fine no injuries but he’s very sore

Sounds like Brian got loose too end and went into chief

  3. Steve Dye

What a shame that the Crow was taken out , but more importantly is that a great racer like chief is doing well .. Hope this ain’t the last we see of you . speedy recovery brother.

This is not a shock tbh. Brian crashes on the track more then anyone i know, he cant handle his car, and overpowers the small chassis. This is exactly what happens when you take a track racer to the street. I GURANTEE if the show was truelly about street racers and not a popurlarity contest we would not be seeing this today.

I am not offended by your calious stupidity, but you should remember Karma is a bitch, and when you are unsympathetic toward others, don’t expect sympathy when Karma finds you.

How was my statement not true in any kind of way, i did not say anything aggresive or mean. But simply stated facts. Brians first pass on the street was the first time he went to street outlaws and end of last season. He put big tires on just days before the show. He overpowered his car. End of story. I got picture’s minutes after it happened, and also word that they were both okay. You think if the outcome was worse i would have posted that get real. Sit down.

    2. albert marquez

the type of mustang that brian was driving should not be used in racing they have a short wheel base and is a death trap i have seen these cars crash more than others glad that both are okay, GET WELL Justin GO PONTIAC POWER!

      1. AL

Your right ! and Im glad someone finally said it . I have seen more mustang crashes than anything out there . They just don’t work with more than 500 -600 H.P. Tube frame or back halved .

this may offend people but I have no sympathy at all for them, they promote an illegal side to our sport and karma bites, maybe if they change the show and take it to the track to promote our sport then this would not possibly have been as bad.

I really do DIS agree with you because street racing has been around aor many years ( I have street raced for over 50 years) But I do agree this is not street racing
Every car I raced against when I was a kid would have had no problem passing inspection at the track, these were cars we built ourselves along with the motors

these cars cannot be driven daily on the street and street racing never included
      wheelie bars on the back

So.. Your telling me Daddy Dave’s wreck on the track with the nova was what.. A fluke! Your a dumb ass!! Accidents happen and it’s gonna happen to the best of them.

    3. common sense

umm guessing you didnt see Daves crash at the track or anyone ever crash at a track then doesnt matter where it was shit happens and your just a prick that has no respect

  6. Brad hiscock

Sounds like you fucked yourself up pretty good Justin hoping you have a speedy recovery And damn sure wish I had money to help you get that car rolling again , she is one scary fast bitch

  7. eric cybulski

Thats what they get paid all that money for to do stupid things. That green blinded them. What they do is not wise anyway and a bad influence on kids. Many kids have been hurt or killed thinkin there crow you can bet on it.Glad hes ok maybe he will do it where he should now and promote our sport propetly

    1. Tracy

Do you honestly think they make money off that show? They were all street racing long before discovery channel and they all pay for there own cars.

  8. Jay

This really sucks that this happened im glad that chief is ok and i hope the only guy is ok too and its a big loss for both guys crashing the cars that they worked hard to build and race prayes to the family and friends of both chief and chuck

Very Sorry to hear of the crash and injuries to Justin. Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

I do watch the show (and enjoy it aside from the trash talk) , and yes, back in the day, cars such as we see running on the series bear little relationship to real street cars of my day (I mean really, racing Pro Mods on the street?!).

It’s important to acknowledge that they are Street Racing, NOT Drag Racing. It’s bad enough that the media can’t get it right, surely we can separate the two.

I’m hoping that there’s at least an ambulance in attendance when they’re running on the street (with a film crew, I’d at least hope for that).

Sincerely, My heart goes out to him.

Get Well Soon Chief,I also crushed my L3,L4 lower vertebrae back in 1996, on a motorcycle wreck, had to wear a turtle shell around my chest to keep my back straight while it healed, you will recover, build the Crow back and keep on keeping on Brother!

  11. Pizzandoughnuts

Sorry to hear about the crash, I know what it like to have a severe back injury, hang in there man! You can always race another day and do what you love!

  12. tom

Regrets for the Crow; at least for now. Tough break. It happens. Glad you are on-the-mend. Love the show, but respect it enough to know to leave street racing that extreme to those who have the b@!!$ and are aware of the risks. Get well soon!

  13. Patty Krzywda

My son and I watch the show every Monday, we hope you have a speedy recovery

  17. GO AWAY

The reality is that these staged “racers” set drag racing back 40 years
    You deserve what you get.
    Fake is pretend.

  18. csmith

Yoo. Good luck with your recovery. Been watchin since the begining. Takes more balls than I got and I ride a kx 500. You can always build another car. You have your life and family. Be greatful. It could have been different. Can’t wait to see what you do next. Good luck and motor on bro.
