BangShift Project Files: An Update On The Former CarJunkieTV 1972 Nova

It’s been a couple of years since we checked in on forum member “Proven Guilty” and the 1972 Chevrolet Nova that used to be a part of the CarJunkieTV.com fleet, back before BangShift.com was a thing. He had purchased the car and was doing research on it’s history when he managed to find an old CJTV video where, in a very quick scene back when DF and Chad were testing out a GM LS crate engine, the Nova was shown as a potential recipient and soon-to-be dragstrip mule. Unfortunately, CarJunkie went belly-up, the cars were sold off and life moves on, and so does the progress on the Nova.

In the few years since we last took a look at the Nova, Proven Guilty has gotten the car up and running using the LS route, via a truck LQ4 after a junkyard block turned out to be an absolute turd. A 4L80E automatic with a Jake’s Performance converter handles life behind the engine better than the 4L60E did, and a Ford 9-inch takes the abuse like a champ. The car is good for upper 12s at over 107 MPH in the quarter in the Phoenix air and has seen events such as Roadkill and LS Fest West. It’s nice to see an old friend living a happy life instead of being covered in dust, sitting in a corner somewhere!
