The Jegs SPORTnationals 2016 is on! The schedule for 2016 was just announced and is right here, as the event is returning to Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We’re excited about this event, as we love Beech Bend and the Jegs SPORTnationals is one of the premier sportsman races in the country. Billed as the national event of sportsman racing, this event promises some of the best sportsman action on the planet and we’re excited about it. Here is the official announcement.
JEGS SPORTSNATIONALS 2016 EVENT SCHEDULE SET FOR MAY 27-29 RETURN TO BEECH BEND RACEWAY PARK
GLENDORA, Calif. (Jan. 15, 2016) – The much anticipated return of the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals to Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky., Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29 is taking shape with the event schedule being announced today. This year’s event is expected to be the largest sportsman only national event ever with over $108,000 in cash purse and special bonus races plus product contingency awards.
JEGS, NHRA and the Dallas Jones-family will be hosting a huge southern cookout for all racers and crews in the “Shady Grove” pavilion adjacent to the pit area following Friday’s opening day of racing. In addition, Beech Bend Amusement Park and Splash Lagoon Water Park will be open Friday evening for a special JEGS Family and Friends Night.
Saturday racing will feature heads-up class racing in Super Stock and Stock eliminators along with bonus Fast Four Shootout races in Comp, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman and Shootouts in the three super eliminator categories including Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.
Qualifying will set a 32-car field in Competition, 128-car fields in Super Stock and Stock and expanded 64-car fields in both Top Dragster and Top Sportsman. All run fields will be contested in Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.
Eliminations for all classes will be held on Sunday with National points at stake in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series including Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster categories while Lucas Oil Divisional points will be awarded in Super Street. Memorial Day Monday is planned as a travel day or if needed as a completion day for the event.
The gate will open for the event on Thursday at 9 a.m.
