(Words and Photos by Brad Klaassen) – Despite Mother Nature having a complete meltdown the past couple of weeks in central Oklahoma, some semblance of normalcy managed to return to Thunder Valley Raceway Park near Noble, Oklahoma this weekend. The track’s Pro Street Racing Association monthly series once again returned to the strip to compete. While the car count for this addition of the PSRA meet wasn’t up to its usual numbers because of weather related challenges, the guys and gals running in the series put on another fantastic show.

A huge shout out is also in order for the TVRP track crew. Since Mother Nature decided to bless central Oklahomawith biblical amounts of rainfall over the past several days, when all the racers and fans began showing up for this edition of the PSRA series, the track looked like a liquid quarter mile. ThunderValley sits in a valley; hence the name and the water level from the nearby rapidly swelling Canadian Riverhad the joints of the all concrete track gushing instead of weeping water. The track held a racers meeting to inform everyone of the situation and the racers all agreed they needed some on track action to help ease some of the pain of the past two week’s disasters in Oklahoma.

Racers and fans alike patiently waited until the TVRP track crew got the strip raceable and that’s how it went down. Hats off to the entire crew including Larry, Nick, Bruce, Mike, Cody and Adam, these guys earned a Wally for getting the strip ready for action in record time on Saturday night. TVRP is rurally located, so no noise curfews come into play and because of the late start, the racing continued on into early Sunday morning. And that’s just what racers and fans alike needed to help with the healing process in dealing with Oklahoma’s latest edition of weather gone bad disasters. So, on behalf of racers, fans and photographers that made the trek to the track this past Saturday evening, thank youThunderValleyRacewayPark. You guys rocked this weekend.
